So I just finished That Summer last night, it was really good. It was different from the other books
that Dessen has written; it was more about just the girl's memories and trying to deal with her father's
abandonment and her mother and sister than anything else. Haven seemed like a real "down to earth"
person who reminds me of a few of my friends put together. It seemed so Different for me to read this
particular book because she was only 15, the youngest I think- or at least so far, the youngest of her
characters. Reading this book, you can tell that she is young and still learning about the heartache
a boy can really cause. Not just this, but this is where the "Don't judge a book by its cover" also
seems to show up. She learns that not everything happened as she thought, and remained forever
changed by the impact of her sister's long ago ex-boyfriend.
I loved this book- although it seemed sad to me that Haven's problems which everyone thinks revolves
around her sister, is just a normal part of growing up- and no one seemed to notice or to care. :(
But it was nice to read because it was a new experience from Sarah Dessen.
My next book to read during this vacation is Just Listen although I have read it before- It's time to read it again.
Until Later,
